Managing access control for external systems integrations

Required Tempo product: Tempo Timesheets for Cloud

Required permission: JIRA Administrators and Tempo Administrators

Using external systems token to manage access allows designated Tempo administrators to use the Tempo Servlet API to retrieve information from an external system securely. It uses a Tempo security token to authenticate your credentials, and the external system's IP address to verify that the system is allowed to download Tempo data. To set access controls:

  1. From the JIRA main menu, select Tempo > Tempo settings, or click the Settings_Icon.png icon on the Tempo sidebar to access the Tempo administration page.
  2. On the left menu bar, locate the Developer Tools section and select External Systems Token.
  3. Create a security token. You can type directly in the field.
A security token must contain a minimum of 8 alphanumeric characters and include a combination of letters, numbers and/or hyphens.
  4. Enter an IP or range of IP addresses in the Allowed addresses field, then click Add.
